Awana Summit Weekend, Denver!

This is Art Rorheim, founder of Awana Clubs Intl. This man loves the Lord and knows how to have fun! I just spent four days with him and other friends at Awana Summit weekend in Denver, CO. This is a national competition where over 1,200 teens get together and test their acheivements in the area of scripture memory and athletics/teamwork. It is an extremely exciting weekend where friends reunite, life decisions are made, and God is glorified.

I was able to go with my good friend Dave Meyers, Director of Development at the New Tribes Missionary Training Center in Missouri. We spent the weekend representing New Tribes Mission and talking with teens and adults about tribal people who are still isolated from the reach of the gospel. See his take on the weekend at http://www.ntm.org/dave_meyers/3551

Over 200 people from around the nation (mostly high school seniors) recieved their Citation Award on Monday night (the highest achievement Awana offers for scripture memory and Bible Study). This is my good buddy Jordan Vert from Bellevue, ID.

In addition to my team from Idaho, I met up with some really cool kids from other areas like Corey, Brianne, Julia, Meagan, Jameson...from Olympic Bible Fellowship, Sequim, WA. These guys have what it takes to be missionaries...a love for the Lord and desire to glorify Him with their lives. Who knows where He will send them as they continue to pursue Him day by day! (could be right here in the USA...could be overseas) For more about unreached people or tribal church planting, visit www.ntm.org. For info on short-term trip opportunities, see www.ntm.org/missiontrips

On Monday night, I went downtown Denver and ate Moroccan food with some new friends of mine from Evangelical Community Church, Jackson, TN. This is the dynamic of Summit weekend...great fellowship...connecting with quality people who love the Lord...and glorifying God by going deeper in our walk with Him. These young people will be the ones to take the gospel to the ends of the earth in the years to come!

Portland!

Here in Portland I was invited to share about missions in my friend Sarah's 5th grade class. Here Sarah Martin, and her husband David, are helping to demonstrate how tribal missionaries are overworked and need HELP!! Please be praying that God would raise up more missionaries to take the gospel to unreached people groups.

Youth Outreach!!

We packed out our activity center the other day during a youth outreach. Yes, that's the Boise State Broncos helmet outside the door. People walked through it to get into the building.

We showed an evangelistic football movie Facing the Giants, and had Marty Tadman (BSU defensive player-of-the-game for the Fiesta Bowl) share his testimony and present the gospel. There was a good response.

Camp Speaker??

Feb. 9th-11th I had the opportunity to speak to a group of Jr. Highers for a weekend at their winter camp. They were from Grace Bible Church and Riverside Community Church. I challenged the kids to be usable in God's hands. So cool to see young people excited about following the Lord!

Chapels!!

On Tuesday I got the chance to speak to the Jr. & Sr. High Students at Nampa Christian School, challenging them in their walk with Christ and how that related to missions. Some of these are kids I've known for years! (just 2 feet taller than the last time I'd seen them) Posted by Picasa

Men's Retreat

During my church's Men's Retreat up in McCall, ID...they were hosting the annual winter carnival. There were several ice sculptures around town. One of our favorites was at the Forest Service. It's a Smokey the Bear, mixed with a Sphinx...I called it a "Sminx"

This sculpture is dedicated to the Boise State Broncos, who won the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in overtime with a two-point conversion on a "Statue-of-Liberty" play. Posted by Picasa

Fiesta Bowl - Go Boise State Broncos!!!

This is some of the guys from my church's college group. We got together on New Year's Day to watch the Fiesta Bowl. It was pretty exciting watching our underdog BSU Broncos from Boise, Idaho beat the 7-time National Champion Oklahoma Sooners in overtime. If we will get fired up for God like we do for a football game, look out world! The gospel is coming your way! Posted by Picasa

Hangin' with friends

These are my friends Addy, Bri, Cali, and Dena Miller! We went through missionary training together (well, their parents and I)...they were on loan to me to drain some of that energy. Thanks LeRoy and Sarah! Posted by Picasa
I feel like a human playpen. Posted by Picasa
People ask, "Where do you get your energy?" I tell 'em, "It's like osmosis...the energy just leaks out of the kids and soaks in through my skin." Posted by Picasa
