While our primary reason for being there was to help them with some work projects and get acquainted with the VI Team, we did have a couple opportunities to get out and explore.

When we got out of the canoe on the other bank, we sunk into the mud up to our knees! This is thick, black, gooey mud (great bug repellant, but doesn't always come off easy).
We walked across this plain to another part of the river where the hippos hang out.
